
I could have screamed when a bird I wanted to take a photo of flew off. When I uploaded the photo I realised that I caught it in the act of the departure flight. I suppose it was a blessing in disguise.

Those flyaway pictures are often my favorites. Meanwhile, though, the ability of my cardinals to vanish — just disappear without even flying away — the minute I pick up the camera is almost uncanny.
