FOWC with Fandango: Heresy

The carnival season is during Feburary in our area. The time when everyone dresses to make sure they will not be recognised. They are not really heretics, but just having fun, acting silly and doing what they should not be doing. Of course you will not recognise who is behind the mask, but that is the idea. It is often combined with considerble alcohol consumption.

And now there is a small drama because the corona virus does not allow for mad moments of getting closer at carnival time and there is talk of it being postponed next year. This borders on a tragedy for the carnival lovers.

But I will be wearing a mask. It is pale blue with the white reverse side and hangs on my ears by elastic. The problem is, most people have the same mask as I do. I met a colleague today in the store, we looked long at each other and then we realised we are good friends. Even my iPhone no longer recognises me. I have to use a code, how degrading. Facial recognition is a thing of the past.

  1. We all look like old western banditos! It IS strange never seeing a smile except in your own home. Owen has said he has had to change his sense of humor because people can’t “read him” because they can’t see his face. A strange time!
