Today has been predicted as the hottest day in the year so far which does not really surprise me. The clouds have already disappeared and I must say it is really comfortable outside on the porch, but the early morning is always cooler. I do not mind the hot weather. I am one of the lucky ones that very rarely, almost never, get sun burn and I am developing a wonderful wheelchair/scooter tan. Who needs to go on holiday when you can get it automatically.
Mr. Swiss and I were on our way yesterday afternoon for the first time together on our scooters. It is certainly a different experience. First of all there was a discussion who goes first, but I told him to go ahead. He has a little more practice than I do up to now. I am still getting used to the ropes, although driving is no big problem. I just have to be careful when turning corners, but we eventually arrived in town when he said I should go first, as I have apparently more experience with the town. We had to get a couple of new batteries as we now have a second “open-door” remote for the garage as we do not always go together. I parked outside the store, removed my walker and did the necessary whilst Mr. Swiss waited in an alley next to the store. It is really a new experience for both of us. On the way home I had to pick up a few items from the supermarket. We parked the scooters on the bike parking place (see photo) and I actually walked into the store with Mr. Swiss using my walker. He can manage with his stick. It was like old times again when we did the shopping together. It was actually the first time that he had visited this new store near where we live and he was quite satisfied with it.
I did not have so much time for photos as I had to share my time in town with Mr. Swiss, which I was really enjoying. It is so long since we have gone together anywhere, even if it is only in a scooter and not perhaps arm in arm or even holding hands as it used to be, but we both enjoyed our gold oldie moments together. I saw these two musicians outside a store in town. They were quite good, him playing his guitar and she was singing along with him. I am still not sure if it was his wife or daughter, but I think more his wife anyhow they sounded very good and were singing in spanish.
As we left town I could not resist taking a photo of this side alley. Our town seems to be made for photos.
And now back to this morning. I had just finished my breakfast of a few slices of bread and jam I had company. first of all the fly on the left arrived and then an unknown flying object also decided to have his breakfast in the same place. Food is a common denominator amongst insects it seems so they got on like a house on fire enjoying the remains of my breakfast. That was almost an hour ago and the little guy on the right is still there. He really seems to have a sweet tooth (teeth) although I think they do not really chew anything, they just absorb. I let them stay. Perhaps I had a bad conscience after killing the many flies yesterday. Outside it does not bother me, but flies are an annoyance indoors.
Today is another scooter journey for me to get my week-end shopping. Tomorrow the stores are all closed for our national Swiss day where everyone usually has an outdoor grill evening and perhaps lets off their fireworks. This year is a little different. There are no town firework displays, blame it on the corona. Yesterday we had a new daily peak of cases, over 200, which is not so good. It really seems to be becoming a second wave of infections, although our Kanton still remains at the bottom of the list. There are talks of a perhaps new lock down.
Have a good day, make the most of it, it will soon be week-end for the non golden oldies amongst us. Every day is a week-end for us.
Good Morning! I just happened to be up at ten to one in the morning. I really need to get some sleep. It is amusing to think that it is not the middle of the night somewhere else. I don’t know why, but It seems like it should be the same time everywhere.

I also have ‘my very own’ fly which bothers me greatly every time I go to bed – normally they should live only 24h but I bet that one has a vastly extended time on earth – and of course I can’t catch it when in bed. HH doesn’t know a thing about anything, he goes to bed and 30” later he’s off in dream land.
Also, it’s quite bizarre that I have to learn from you in your blog that the C19 cases are raising in our country. I seem to be better informed what’s on in UK and US than what’s happening here…. Maybe I sd start listening to the radio? (We don’t have TV and I choose very few things to watch on the iPad).
It’s great you can go out together once more, I’m happy for you guys.

During the night it is mainly the mosquitoes, the flies are a bother for my after lunch sleep. I get my daily news from SFR on internet. They give the daily count of new cases.

We never thought that in the golden oldie days we would go out together with scooters. Heard , today that the birds stop their morning songs mid August. I will miss them. Today probably only photos from my shopping trip.

Mr Swiss enjoyed getting out to see where your trips had taken you and your wheelchair? Where the musicians were playing looks like a very pretty place.

I still have my wheelchair and will take a trip now and again with it just for photography. The scooter is so handy for shopping as I can now go into the store and hobble around with my walker that I can take with me. It is so less complicated. The musicians were outside the so-called Vigierhof which is owned by the von Vigier family from Solothurn.. Von Vigier was quite a successful banker and made his career in London.

I think Mr. Swiss quite enjoyed it as he does not get out very much, but with the scooter it is much better and now he has me to accompany him.

Good afternoon You sound so happy with your new method of travel. Have fun. The temperature was so hot, I almost all my plants. I did manage to catch it and water before they were too dry. This will be a hot weekend Be careful on your trips and stay safe.

It was the hottest day here as well today I was glad for the breeze as I was travelling in my scooter to cool me down a little. I watered the garden yesterday evening and now I am just about to do it this evening. We have our national day tomorrow, so it will be a nice hot sunny one and everyone (except me and the family) will be having a bar-b-que in the garden most probably. I am not sure if we will have any firework displays due to the viirus.. Perhaps some might be having a private show in their garden.

In Switzerland we rarely get extra days because of weekends. It only used to be half a day. Happy Dominion day
