He still visits me every evening, usually at the same time, around 8,00 p.m. I used to think it was because he was attracted to my last cat Tabby, Tabby left us three weeks ago for the eternal corn chambers to live her 10th life keeping the corn free of mice. Roschti lives two doors away with the neighbour. He is well looked after, always a full bowl of food and water to drink, but cats also like to live their own lives and so Roschti lays on the ground in my garden and has a sleep.
When he sees me he approaches and rubs his body on my legs, as if to make sure he is welcome. He finds me simpatico and I find him also simpatico. Tabby did not like him, regarded him as an intruder. He use to come and have a look to see if Tabby had some food remaining. Now there is no food, no Tabby, but Roschti still comes and he is always welcome.
Do you let him visit you inside? He looks like such a sweet little guy.

He sometimes wanders inside, but no problem. Since Tabby left, there is no more cat food for him.

Our boy is far more sociable (to other cats) than the girl. When they meet, she is always the one to hiss, while he is mostly not interested.

Exactly. Tabby was the girl (at least she was once) and always on her guard. Roschti was just on the search for food and the rest did not matter so much.

He looks like he’s a gentle feline, and wouldn’t intrude on you. Charlie my cat is a bit more standoffish, he fights with the cat next door all the time. Often coming in with scratches, patches of fur missing, and looking a bit worse for wear. But as long as he feels he’s defended his “territory” I suppose it’s all good.

Aw, what a sweet story. Funny how cats can turn on the affection and then turn it off just as quickly.

Probably a case of what’s in it for me

You prepared us for Tabby’s passing. She had a good life as a much loved house cat. How does your son cope with that change?

My oldest son is autistic and he was never a cat lover in that sense of the world. He just lived with her and if he came home and she was in his room, he just removed her, no problem.
