I wheeled past the Priest’s Seminary today, although nothing new. If I go anywhere I have to take the same route along the main road and it passes this building. I have been living in the area for 20 years, perhaps now 21 years, and I have never seen the gate open It is always locked. Makes it quite uncomfortable for taking photos of the front garden with bars in front of the lens,
The Kanton where I live is basically roman Catholic and here the priests are shown the ropes on how to be good catholic priests I think. On the other side of the road there is the palace belonging to the bishop of Basel. Actually we are in the Kanton of Solothurn next to the Kanton of Basel, but it seems the bishop likes to divide himself amongst his faithful followers. The funny thing is that I have never seen one of the scholars coming or going, perhaps they do not really exist. The only person I ever see is the gardener. I suppose he creates the ambience by tending to the bushes and flowers and the students are all segregated from the others.
And so under the watchful eye of the bishop the young wannabe priests are learning the job, fenced in. Is it to stop them escaping or not letting the others get in: who knows.
That is a beautiful place! Funny, but I have never seen a priest, from any parish I have ever belonged to, out in public. What do they do all day? I guess pray.

I have no idea. Switzerland is a country with two main religions according to where you live. you have the Swiss Reform Church more in the area around Zürich, and the roman catholic religion, in our area and some French areas. I think there is also a little reform in the French part of Switzerland, the Calvinism, but am no expert. Mr. Swiss is from a Swiss reform church family, but is about as religious as I am, perhaps a little more as I am not.

Very interesting how different countries have so many different ways of worship.

Astonishment about the fact of having been living in the same town for twenty years and no friends have been made, maybe I am similar to these invisible aliens who occupy that seminar, and even so I am not religious?

Some people have an abundance of friends, these acquaintances are easy to come by. It is the longer last relationship that takes work and a desire to achieve it.
