Good Morning

At last a normal morning with no appointments at an ungodly hour or maintenance men coming to fit a new oven and microwave. I even have one of those interesting sunrises with a bit of colour, supplied by the sun, to begin the day.

And here it is, although I must admit after having the same one for at least ten years, I now have to adapt to the new developments. Even my No. 1 son was a little suspicious when he saw it as he often does a quick warm up in the microwave if there are left overs from lunch to eat in the evening, although I would add there are rarely leftovers. He usually eats everything at lunch that is too much. Anyhow it works. I cooked the cauliflower in the microwave yesterday and it turned out perfectly. Also the pork chops for lunch from the oven were a good result. I now have a pyrolitic extra in my oven. No more cleaning to do. Just switch the pyrolitic extra on in the evening and let it work. All the residue is burnt off the surfaces and you just have to collect it afterwards when the oven has cooled down. At least that it what the instruction manual says and the guy that installed it: what could be better.

I am now so glad for a daily routine, although this afternoon I am off after lunch to get my winter tyres mounted on the car. I already got a reminder yesterday by SMS on my phone that it is today and I should arrive 5 minutes earlier than the time. As I am missing out my lunchtime sleep for this appointment I should be able to organise it. I will have to leave No. 1 son and Mr. Swiss to tidy up the kitchen after lunch.

Now I have time again to see what is happening in the garden, although not very much. We are now on the dying memories of what was and although this brave rose decided to bloom at the end of September, its days are no numbered and it is slowly giving up.

My hostas are also no longer what they were, but I will leave them until the leaves collapse on the ground. It is then quite easy to pull them out and dispose of them.

Yesterday was an afternoon shopping trip and Mr. Swiss decided to accompany me, although he usually disappears and does his own thing, filling up his chocolate supplies and various electronic goods, such as a new refill for one of the colours on our colour eating monster of a printer. I noticed our electronic department in the store is closing, although will be re-opening under another name which actually belongs to our local store. I am hoping that they have everything I need and also that they do not take any  parking places reserved for the handicapped.

I must now organise my bird feeder for outside. I have already begun to feed the birds with some bread remainders I have in the morning. Apart from the usual crowd of crows, magpies and sparrows I notice a new arrival this morning. I managed to capture a   pboto, although must blow it up to be able to recognise it.

And now to depart to pastures anew. There are things to be done and organised. Have a good day.

    • At least no rain today, although still a chill in the air. The newest development in the kitchen is a steamer, although I will wait for that. No. 2 son has one and finds it quite good.

  1. Those hostas are going quick. By now, they could be all cleaned up until next year. We got a bit of cool weather, so our hostas, which never look very good anyway, started getting tired. However, it will be getting very warm in the next few days. That might make them look as bad as if it were actually getting cooler. I mean, the process is already started.
