RDP Saturday: Kite

Red Kite 16.03 (4)

It was only this week that I yet again saw a kite flying above and managed to get a photo. They are red kites and like to float around now and again, especially on the lower slopes of the mountains. Luckily Mr. Swiss recognises them from my photos, so I know the name.

Otherwise nothing to report on kites. Now and again I might see a father with his son flying a kite, but not very often.

  1. We have a lot of hawks — and a considerable number of eagles too — but not many hawks or falcons. The Cooper’s Hawk is apparently a kind of kite, famous for scaring the bejeezus out of the feeder birds. One sight of the hawk and they will hide for days. It’s part of the price you pay for putting up a feeder. You get the birds … and you get bird hunters, too!

    • The kites have their own territoriy, mainly on the slopes of the mountains. They are wonderful to watch with their flying antics, always climbing higher.
