Good Morning

Dawn

The mornings are improving slowly and we are now even getting clouds to a background of sky. It is also warmer although not exactly warm enough for the t-shirts outside, but I am always wearing a t-shirt. Naturally when going places I need the winter jacket, but at home for a quick photo my short sleeves are OK. It is Saturday, soI  decided to hug the bed a little longer.

However I have now arrived at the breakfast table after opening all the curtains, preparing fresh water for my cat and feeding the waiting crows and sparrows with their breakfast.

Crows

There seemed to be a heated discussion this morning about which crow was up for first grabs at the bread and he walked off. It is an interesting photo programme on my iPhone. As I take a photo it does a little film and I can pick out which movement I what from the subject of the photo. My photo of the crows was actually three still birds, but as I looked at the pictures, I had a small film and could choose which photo I wanted, so I chose the one of the crow that decided to walk away spreading his wings in indignation.

In the meanwhile I had a little drama yesterday lunchtime.

iPad and Kindle

As usual I prepared for my lunchtime golden oldie relaxation snooze, having a check on my iPad whilst hugging the bed and could check nothing. I had no connection to Internet. I could not call Mr. Swiss for help as he was already in dreamland so all I could do was hope, which I eventually gave up with a vision of an Internetless life for the day. I then realised what a tragedy this would be.

Eventually Mr. Swiss came back to life an hour later and so did it so we examined the problem and realised it was not only Internet but the TV and the radio reception. The automatic clock on various electric appliances were also not working and No. 1 son said there was a blackout although the lights were working again. We called our Internet provider, after waiting in the line on the telephone until someone answered, and he told us that in our area he had many complaints and would be sending a specialist to have a look at the electric switch boxes, or whatever in english. It could take an hour. In the meanwhile I decided to iron the duvet covers from the wash to occupy myself. I can tell you that I did not get much midday sleep yesterday. As I finished the ironing there was suddenly life again on my iPad and Mr. Swiss was happy to notice that the TV and radio were working. The men had done their job in the background to connect our village to real life.

This, of course, disrupted my afternoon, although I would not have gone for a wheelie as we ate lunch later than usual, due to week-end shopping. We had another drama in the late afternoon when Mr. Swiss realised he had only three cigarettes, but No. 1 son took a walk to the station in the evening and got a new supply. I know smoking is not good, but when you are 80 years old, there is really no point in deciding to stop. My grandfather rolled his own and was still rolling them when he was 89 years old.

I am hoping for a more settled day today. There is no shopping to be done and I might chance a wheelie in my chair this afternoon on the condition that it stops raining. It is only a light rain and there is a little light behind the clouds, so who knows.

And now to make up for lost time on my computer and get something done.

Enjoy the week-end and make the most of it. Monday will soon be back again.

  2. Hello. I wrote a really long post this morning in response to yours but for some reason it disappeared before I managed to post it. I couldn’t remember all that I had said to you and gave up in the end. So I am coming back now just to say good morning even though it is now good evening.

I really related to the Internet thing and I know that if we lose our Internet connection then the life is miserable. It is one thing that I dread not ever being able to use the Internet again.

I am not writing the justices I want to write it but anyway I hope that you have had a good day today with no drama in it And that you managed to get out for a while.

    • It’s OK, I got the meaning of what you said. I have often wondered how you manage with a computer being blind, but I know there are various opportunities today. And I might be amongst the seeing, but the texts I write do not often turn out as they should thanks to the wonderful automatic spelling machine we have. I often get a mixture of German and english to go with it.

  4. I really hate when the WiFi goes down. Usually, it’s them. Weather or a squirrel ate the line. Or a tree fell or lightning hit something. there are a lot of reasons. Sometimes, I’m surprised it works as well as it does.

  5. IT‘S SAD really that we SO depend on the online availability 24/7…. I have left my computer cable in Switzerland last Friday and will be without until Hero Husband returns it to me next Friday…. I have NO access to my book lists and others, cannot watch any films (we have no TV and I can only watch DVDs on said computer), I can‘t write (use Words programme) etc etc etc…. Luckily, I have HH‘s iPad for stuf like this or you wouldn‘t get any comments from me either.
