Last year in June and July my camera was full of sunflower photos, as we had some fields full of them at one of the local planting places, for the production of their oil. It is quite an industry in Switzerland.
Daily tasks are no longer as easy as they were
Shopping is exhausting although I am no amateur
Piling goods in the trolley and sorting them at the desk
Is heavy work and annoying, like a theatre burlesque
As the years are creeping by you realise the fun has gone
You have now become a golden oldie when you were once a swan
Even leaving the bed in the morning as become a difficult task
But you battle on regardless, wearing the daily mask
Where did I put my purse and searching for the keys
Problems all around you, and cannot be solved with ease
And then you suddenly remember the days when you were young
Onerous was not the problem, you could do it all with fun
There is a building in London, England known as the Shard so if you want to know more, just click on the link. It certainly resembles a broken piece of glass with its sharp edges at the top.I do not have any original photos, and apparently you can visit for a meal at the top, if you can afford it.
I had my own shards at home this morning. My cleaning lady was back again and hard a work. Where people work accidents can happen, and so she created some shards in the bathroom. I have a a built in attachment for holding a glass (actually two glasses), but the apartment being now 20 years old, when a glass breaks we no longer find the original size. However, the drink company Cynar have glasses to fit. We ordered half a dozen some time ago in the case of breakage, which has happened now and again.
This morning there was the sound of glass tinkling as a glass hit the floor and we had our own shards. This was ideal as it fit today’s prompt, but not so ideal as I had to remember where we had put our reserve supply of glasses.
I knew I had seen them a couple of weeks ago and thought what a good idea that we have enough and so I began a search. After five minutes I found them all together in a bag, wrapped in paper individually. And so our shards are now in the garbage for the next collection and the situation is saved.
We are not getting very impressive photos lately. The clouds are grey and boring, but in the afternoon they have been disappearing and we get the good skies as in the photo. Yesterday would have been a great afternoon for some photos but my wheelchair was waiting for a screw to fix it. The guy arrived yesterday afternoon with the necessary screw but it was too late to go anywhere. I had other stuff organised, like blogs to write and I was tired from the morning shopping and cooking.
I am later this morning. My cleaning lady has returned. She had her rightfully deserved Christmas break and afterwards was on a course training to become a helper. She had been working for a couple of weeks in a local senior home looking after the older people. Now she is back and busy looking after my kitchen, bath and shower this morning. I am glad. I can do it OK myself, but am not able to climb very well to the higher places. I am glad she is back in the old routine again.
Yesterday I was shopping again in the local supermarket. Perhaps I am crazy, but I quite enjoy going to the store. It gives me a change of scenery and I meet people. After buying my stuff in the same place for the last 20 years I really know most of the assistants and they know me.
Today who knows. I have spaghetti to cook for lunch, should now start. There is also a salad to prepare and if I do not oversleep after lunchtime I might even take a wheelie in my chair into town. They did say something about rain yesterday, but no sign up to now. I am hoping it will brighten up a bit for some good photos somewhere and the rain stays away.
And look what I found in my garden yesterday. The first snowdrops have arrived. What a wonderful surprise.
Enjoy the day, look after yourselves and remember, the Spring is on its way and will eventually arrive. Perhaps you also have some snowdrops somewhere.
