I had no idea what this flower was, so I had a look on my Plantsnap app on my telephone. It tells me that it is bluemink, also known as flossflower, blueweed, pussyfoot or Mexican Paintbrush, with latin name Ageratum Houstonianum, so take your choice – hoping that my app is correct.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain!

That is a cool name. I know it as floss flower, which sound like a recommendation from a dentist. Blue mink sounds more like one of those Halston pill box caps that my mother wore in the very early 1970s, but in a color for the 1980s.

In my garden column for next week, I just mentioned how the simple toyon, Christmas berry and California Holly are all the same thing, and that that same thing had been known by five other botanical names before it got the name that it has now. Even Hollywood that was named after it was formerly named Hollywoodland.
