FOWC with Fandango: Pending

Schlumbergera

Pending that all goes well, my Christmas cactus will have many beautiful flowers.

Schlumbergera

Unfortunately it did not go so well as as I was transferring the cactus in its pot the main branch with the flowers broke off.

However, let us not despair. I have placed the broken branch in water and hope that perhaps it might sprout some roots and it will be saved. Of course, pending that roots will grow.

  1. For future reference, it’s very difficult to transplant these guys. They DO fall apart. Whatever pot they come in, just work with it. They don’t need much dirt anyway. If they don’t grow roots in water, just sticking them in dirt will probably work. They are succulents, so they tend to grow less in water and more in sandy soil.

    • I thought this might be the case, but I didn’t have any earth ready. These days I only move with my walker, it’s the safest way. I had the pot in the walker and all I did was lift it out and a complete branch broke off.
