It is one of mine. I have had the pots for at least 15 years outside in Summer. They arrive every year again. I just keep them in the cellar in Winter.

Retired and Enjoying Every Minute of It
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

I haven’t tried to grow them because no one has given me any. Everything I grow, someone gave me, except for the hanging pots outside in the summer. When I was much more seriously into plants, I used to find cuttings on my porch when I came home from work. Everyone gave me pieces of thing. One of these days, someone will give me a Calla Lily. Meanwhile, my next branch of orchids is unfurling. I wonder if they will be the same color?

I like plants that return regularly. They give less to do. I always have an orchid somewhere. They flower for so long, but mine do not often flower again

My common white callas were planted by my great grandparents in the early 1940s. No one has ever been able to get rid of them. I took some to my home where I did not care if the become a weed!

I never look upon a calla as being a weed. My first were white, but then the colourful ones began to arrive.

They probably are not weeds there because of the climate. The colorful ones are not weeds here. Only the big white one naturalizes. The ground does not freeze.

Sounds wonderful to have big white calla growing everywhere

It can be. It had plenty of space at my home. I probably should not have planted it so close to the creek so high up though. I did not think about it at the time. (That part of the creek is not infested with exotic species yet.) The problem at the home of my great grandparents is that space was limited, and the callas kept trying to gain more. They were easy enough to dig up, but they kept coming back.
