I so wish people would label their flowerbeds with the names of the flowers that grow in them. It would make it so much easier for met to tell the right name of these flowers. In the meanwhile they are just daisies for me.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain!

I agree – love it when they are in gardens or botanical gardens with their names on! These are at least double and rather big in size?

The name is on the tip of my tongue, as my mum would say, but they look like daisies.

That is precisely what they are. We know them as English daisy, Bellis perennis, but they are daisies nonetheless, and might be known to most simply as ‘common daisy’. These are of one of the fancier varieties. Most are not so fluffy. They are more often pink or white. The straight unimproved specie is a common lawn weed, and is considered to be one of the two most likely identities of the ‘flowers’ in the song about San Francisco which says, “If you’re going to San Francisco be sure to put some flowers in your hair.” They grow wild in the many lawns of Golden Gate Park there, and hippies really like them. ‘Daisies’ is such a generic term that applies to several related but distinct specie.

Thanks for the info. i seem to be learning something. This sort rarely would grow wild here, if at all. These were in a flower bed from the state being decorative.

If they grow wild, they would likely revert to a more genetically stable state, with simpler pink flowers. If they stay long enough, they might even turn white.

I agree with you! But it seems they are only labeled at Botanic Gardens. (I leave my labels in, though, or else I won’t remember what it is!) Otherwise I use an app on my phone to identify them. The one I am currently using is called Plant Snap.

I don’t recognize them. They do looked like dasie S to e. They remained me of Dallas but I think they are. The leaves appear like many seedlings that I pulled for weeds. It is sure a Pretty flower. To bad you can checked the yellow center to is there a number Dr plants like daisies

Die heissen ganz offiziell MUELLERBLUEMLI in Switzerland. They exist in white, white/red speckled and red…. They are lovely are rejoyce you year after year with their brilliant colours and joie-de-vivre (unless derooted by may-june-beetles or other difficult to tell enemies). 🙂 Have a good day
