Switzerland is full of quintessentials from cows, to fondue to alphorns and banks. I decided to show a typical Swiss thing, the Rheinfall in Neuhausen, next to Schaffhausen. When my son eventually settled down with a wife this was the part of Switzerland he moved to. His wife is German and Germany is just over the border. We are in the northern part of Switzerland so he and his family (there is now also a grandson) are sort of living in between although my son still has an appartment near where we live, where he works. I had seen the Rheinfall once almost 50 years ago when I first arrived in Switzerland, but now have the opportunity to pay visits to my son now and again and make the most of one of Switzerland’s famous landmarks.
It is quite imposing and also a tourist attraction as you can see by the boat with the tourists and the ladders going up and down the rocky surface on the island in the middle. It is not quite Niagara, but just as unique.

I think it IS as big as Niagara. It’s also probably as tall. It’s just that Niagara is one big fall and this is a series of huge falls. VERY impressive. I’ve been to Niagara three or four times and somehow, I always remember it as very DAMP. Even though they give you raincoats, you still get pretty wet. Still amazing. You get all those cool rainbows in the spray, too.

I absolutely adore the Rheinfall…. have been umpteen times but never took the boat trip! Yes, I’m a coward…. 🙂

We had hoped to make it to Schaffhausen and the falls when we were in Switzerland a couple of years ago, but we did not have enough time. Hopefully when we come again in 2020. 🙂 Beautiful. Thanks for joining the challenge!

My son lives in a village near the falls and we were spending the weekend there, somhad plenty of time to visit the Falls
