If you want to build something in Switzerland, it is law to make an outline with poles to show how it will fit into the landscape and to give the people time to object. This will be the last block of flats on our estate and an objection has been made, so the building is now delayed.

  1. Wow — I think if I lived in that corner unit I’d protest the new building too! We do “story poles” here as well — they do give some idea of the impact of a new building on views, density, etc.

    • It will not bother me so much as I live further away. It will just cut the trees short behind on the forest, but not so bad. It is the last block they will be building on our estate.

      • Then maybe not so bad for you. Overbuilding is killing a lot of communities around here. They build a lot, but there really aren’t enough people who want the places they build. It ruins the landscape without improving housing — maybe because the houses are so very expensive and this isn’t an expensive area.

        • Our village was always a refuge for the wealthy which keeps our local tax quite low. There are also restrictions on how much is built because we are in an agricultural zone

    • At first I thought it was just one baby, but each time I take photos I see one more. There have been many storms since, but they must have a system to protect themselves
