Sometimes you get them, the radiant days. You even wait for them, to lift your spirits, to escape the drab clouds hanging over your heads, and so when they arrive you make the most of them. The sun has to be in the right place at the right time. There has to be an illumination to magically change some plain old trees into something special. This happened on 5th March, 2017, just over a year ago.
I was checking on my photos and discovered that approximately at this time a year ago the builders moved in with their renovation work.
This photo was taken on 20th April, 2017, just a little more than a month from the first idyllic photo. It is amazing how quickly the radiance of nature can be destroyed by a corset of metal. We still have a radiant sky with its clouds and even a sun, but the rest is steel and shadow and a mysterious figure perched on the top of our building looking down as if to say “now it is all mine, mine” and it was his until some time at the end of October. Was it the return of King Kong or Godzilla ready to pounce and absorb its human victims?
I have 1,038 photos to illuminate our odyssey with the builders and the machines and the dirt and changes in our surroundings. We came unscathed out of the misery, and our building now radiates with a pale green sheen. I preferred the natural radiance of the sun before it all happened.
