Retired and Enjoying Every Minute of It
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

They do look well-behaved, very Swiss.

Although they are probably spanish. The Swiss strawberries are a little on the expensive side.

Can you grow the wild ones in the yard or a hanging basket later in the year?

I do not bother, I used to grow strawberries in the garden when I was younger, but now it is too much hard work. You often see wild strawberries growing.

I had delusions that there would be wild strawberries in the yard in this house we moved to last summer, but the chipmunks and squirrels an birds are very efficient, so I do not expect to see many if any near here, although I planted a ton of seeds last year. Maybe they ate them and disposed of them and those will plant themselves–we’ll see.

Once strawberries begin to grow, they send out runners with new plants

We do actually have wild strawberries growing at various points around the garden, which seem to pop up every year. They are small, round and not that tasty to be honest. But then I am not a great fan of the regular variety either.

Wild strawberries are often seen growing in our area. I used to grow strawberries in my garden. They would grow every year, but I had to change the bed every three years and eventually it became too much work.
