I planted my first one about 15 years ago. I wanted to brighten up my privet hedge. My mum always called them “everlasting” as opposed to the annual variety, which are not really much and do not live long. These are forever: once planted they are indestructrable. They tend to grow in the colour in the photo, although I have also had white ones. They did brighten up my hedge, and in the growing season made attempts to take it over reaching out in all directions. They have also thrown their seeds all over our estate in the meadow, so has brightened up the meadow as well.
