  1. I knew if I read through the ‘reader’ long enough, I would find one of your cool flower pictures. Lavender is a common plant here because it is a chaparral plant, or at least some of them are. Spanish lavender can naturalize, and even lives in sandy soil. My mother really like French lavender. I think that English lavender is the most variable, and the most practical for landscapes. It tolerates more water than the others do. I had two English lavender plants in my downtown planter box, but they needed to be cut back, and then did not recover! How embarrassing. (One recovered, but then got busted off. That can happen on downtown sidewalks.)
