Flower of the Day: 29.10.2017 Buddleia

I love these bushes, also known as butterfly bushes for obvious reasons. If you want butterflies in the garden, then plant a few of these and you will be sure of your butterflies. Since I have had my own garden, almost 20 years, I have had them in the garden in all colours. Now I only have two, a blue one in the back yard and a pink delight in the front yard, but there are always butterflies.

Horse Chestnut leaves

These chestnut leaves have a special meaning for me. I found a chestnut on the ground beneath a tree and planted it in the garden and it began to grow in Spring. I realised that my little garden would be too small to have a chestnut tree dominating everything, and so I removed the growing tree to a large pot. This was about 15 years ago. I waited patiently for the first flower, but it was a long wait.

Last year, amidst all the debris from the building that was happening around my appartment, it decided to flower. Just one flower, but it was Spring and I hope this is the first of many Spring flowers on my horse chestnut.

“Something is smelling good Morticia, nice and fresh. Is it you? I must say I love the pattern on your dress. Black with wonderful contrasting red stains. It really appeals, and night is only a few minutes away, shall we????”

“No Dracky, I am preparing your evening meal, something special to make you strong and a happy vampire. I am afraid some of the juice dropped onto my dress.”

“There was a special offer at the blood bank?”

“No, but it is Monday, the day when the butcher has only fresh meat and he put something on one side for us, knowing we are good customers for anything fresh and colourful. Look!”

“Morticia you spoil me, really. What have I done to deserve this wonderful meal.”

“Oh, Dracky I have never forgotten the first bite, the memories stay with me for the rest of my undead life. You deserve such little rewards.

“But this is luxury. What animal does it come from?”

“Don’t ask Dracky, just enjoy.”

“Is it homo sap…..”

“No Dracky, they have problems with that, somehow the laws have changed since the old country, but it is guaranteed fresh.”

“Oh Morticia, you are everything I could wish for. Would you like a slice?”

“Of course Dracky, I share everything with you, even the blood groups.”

Before renovation 29.03 (2)

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for going away, for leaving us. It was a long friendship and there were many bumps on the way. We were encased in a corset of steel and wood. The peace and quiet of life in the country disappeared. I remember even having fire and flames outside my window. Our life was changed and we learned that not everything is as it seems.

We were deconstructed, but again reconstructed. We made new friends, who almost became family members as they were there daily and every day except for week-ends. Remember the half hour in the morning from 9.00 a.m. to 9.30 when I could at last relax knowing that there would be no increased volume in the background due to your coffee break. And the lunch time intervals, when we were left to enjoy our meals in peace.

I almost missed you all until after lunch. I would be settling into my after dinner sleep, close my eyes and relax whilst hugging my bed. Suddenly you returned, you had not deserted us. I almost got used to the accompanying volume of destruction. I was shaken by vibrations and I even waited in anticipation if there were none. Something was then missing in my daily life.

The Builders

The day you all posed for a group rememberance photo, staring the tool of discontent. I will never forget your smiling faces giving a special laugh for my camera. These are the memories I will never forget. We were all so happy together all sharing the same goal and looking forward to that day in time when peace would again reign.

This now all seems so long ago. We were together as a team for 7 months, an unforgettable community. At the end of the day, one person would remain to ensure that the following day could begin again with no problems. Remember the lock to the door that disappeared. It would have been a secure method to prevent people entering your secret areas and climbing to the top of your iron cages. The lock was never found. It only existed for a week, but I took a photo to prove it was there. No, it was not me, really not, I swear.

I took many photos, up to now 950, but there will be more to come. No longer so many, there are still some parts to be finished, but we will miss you all. Those days will never return, we hope, and may you have now found a new purpose in your building lives. We are eternally thankful knowing now how a house, a block of appartments, is assembled. We learned a lot and it is a lesson we will never forget.

Thankyou all so much for your endurance. Perhaps there were times when we were not so happy together, but that is life. It always has its ups and downs. In our hearts we are etnerally grateful for all you have done for us, and now stay away: get lost and disappear forever. You will not be missed, we will not shed tears because of your departure and are glad to see the backs of you all. There were good times, but mainly bad times. My only gratitude is for your departure.

Good Morning

Clouds 28.10 (5)

I am not welcoming you this morning with a morning cloud photo, because it is grey in grey and looks like the pillows on my bed when I leave it in the morning. This is from yesterday evening. I noticed with these cloud shows you have to be quick to capture them at the right moment. Five minutes later the sky begins to darken and the big light effects are gone. Of course when Mr. Swiss saw me moving a little further afield to catch the complete effect he gave out warnings about falling and being careful, so I had to hurry. As I turned he was standing outside with his iPhone camera also capturing the moment, so I say no more.

Anyhow after my depressive moments yesterday it can only get better. I now trust myself again to walk around inside with no aids from a stick. I still have a reminder in my left foot from my fall, but now it is just a reminder and not a warning. I would like to thank all of you that uttered your words of sympathy and advice. You no longer feel so alone in your bad moments, we all have our crosses to bear.

Patrick

I had another lifting device yesterday. My garden is now approaching the dying time, when you should clear out the yellow and brown leaves. I asked my son if he would do me a favour and remove the dying hosta leaves, but only if they easily could be pulled away. Hostas are good if you wait long enough, they just give up parting from the ground and it is easy to complete the job. I had to explain exactly what and where, him being an autist, but he set to the work with no problem and did the job in five minutes, where I would have needed half an hour if at all. He never says no when you ask.

We now have this thing called daylight saving time, although we called it “putting back the clocks” in my younger days. This means that I got an hour more sleeping time. Of course your routine is toally upside down. On the other hand you awake and realise there is no rush, you can lay a little longer. I found myself catching up on my comments on my iPad at 5.00 a.m. instead of 6.00 a.m. but this had its advantage. It was an hour earlier, but afterwards I put my iPad to one side on the bedside table, closed my eyes, and yes, I slept for a further hour. Even Mr. Swiss compensated with an early morning sleep which is rare for him.

Oh and I had a dream, a real event. I was on a cruise ship with the family and we eventually docked in at Geneva. Geneva is on a lake, not an ocean, but we could not enter the harbour and so we had to wait next to the beach. This was all very surreal, especially when we arrived in a restaurant on the coast (which Geneva does not have) and I left the family to take some photos of Geneva. The photo taking was complicated because I had to walk to get to the right place through a hotel and when I finally returned after taking some great photos, the restaurant was empty and Mr. Swiss had disappeared. I was then very lucky, I awoke, so I do not know if I ever found him. Another warning not to get carried away by taking photos I suppose.

Anyhow I awoke this morning feeling refreshed and ready to go and now for a nice quiet Sunday. It is very cold ouside and we have high winds, but there is a freshness in the air. Beginning the morning hours with no darkness  certainly makes a difference.

Moon

And another boring moon photo: we have now reached half moon. I keep rehearsing with these moon photos, without using my tripod, until I get there.

Have a good Sunday, with or without changing your clocks. If you forgot even better, you win an hour that you did not expect. I love that time changing in October, I get another hour’s sleep. We are now all digital with our computers, so there is no excuse really to forget.
