If you had to move to a country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
I would not move to another country and there is an easy reason. I grew up in England and left England to live in another country. Now I have been living in Switzerland for the past 50 years and it is in the middle of Europe. At the age of 70 I am not prepred to deal with the laws of another country, to get used to their health system, and to change my style of living. Apart from that Switzerland is surrounded by so many other countries, we only need to take a train, travel a few hours and we have arrived. It would be nothing new or different. We speak four different languges in Switzerland: German (Swiss German dialect), French, Italian and Romansch, so that would also not be something completely different. The Swiss are hopping around all the time in different worlds of language and ways of life. Who wants to move somewhere else?
What color would you like your bedroom to be?
Swiss style is basically white plaster painted over and that suits me fine. It is a clean plain job. My problem here is to find the correct translation but it boils down to nice plain walls, painted in offwhite with some abrasions. In England I grew up with so many different wallpaper patterns on the walls, it was the english style but was very monotonous. All our rooms in Switzerland have the same colour, we do not usually paint our rooms in different colours or use colourful wallpaper. The colours come from the accessories, paintings and furniture.
What makes you Happy? Make a list of things in your life that bring you joy.
I am happy because this scene is just across the road to where I live: nature at its best.
I am bascially a happy person, have my hobbies of writing and photography and my family. My happiest moments for me is my “me time” when I have time for myself to do what I want to without interruptions.
What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?
That I can see an end to the 6-7 months of renovations on our appartment block. That we are now approaching the end to the ordeal we have been through with isolating, scraping, painting and continuous interruptions to our life style.
