  1. That is the pink that we get here. The soil is too alkaline for blue. Blue hydrangeas soon fade to purple and eventually purplish pink. Hydrangeas are one of the few flowers that really excel in white, and white does not fade to anything else.

    • For blue hydrangeas they add something to the soil. My garden soil does not support hydrangeas very well. My dad had a climbing hydrangea, and would chop it down when it grew too tall. He had no idea of gardening, but I was astonished how it would grow back with a vengeance. It was an amazing plant.
