  1. Growing up, my grandmother used to drag me to funerals with her. I hated it. The common factor of all of these funerals were carnations…. the standing arrangements always had carnations in them. To this day, I can’t smell one without thinking about death. It’s not an ugly flower, it’s just the smell I can’t get past.

  2. Carnations are probably still the second main cut flower crop here, after roses. Most are white, and dyed accordingly. (I always thought that was rather weird.) It takes a lot of work to grow those big single carnations!
