Good Morning

And as the sun rises in East Switzerland, it decided to illuminate our little settlement in Feldbrunnen. I decided to take a photo whilst it was here which was a good idea, because the sun has disappeared again. It is very cold and windy and yes, we are heading for the cooler season of the year.

I see that iPhone 8 etc. is now almost here and yesterday evening I began to watch the video of the introduction from the new Seve Jobs Theater in the Apple headquarters in a place called Cupertino. There was a large audience and I was wondering who these people were. How did they choose them, or were they just neighbours who wanted a local night out. I decided to make myself wise about this new communication development.

The introduction was done by various Apple guys. I noticed they were all wearing blue jeans and casual shirts, the look for cyber office people. I was then guided through the new phone by demonstrations and I must say the whole concept is now a little clearer. We are entering a science fiction world. In future all you do is look at your phone and it switches on, no more finger prints or codes. There is a face recognition system which you can easily organise, although how easy it is I am not sure. Just look at your phone and it lights up.

It really reminded me of something from a Stephen King book or something from Star Trek. Who know, perhaps our ears will start to grow like Mr. Spock. There is no longer a home buttom, just do a swipe. I clean my present iPhone once daily in the morning out of habit, to remove the finger prints. Now I will have to remove the swipes, or only use my phone after washing hands.

So I watched the  video introduction where it took me step by step through all the new goodies. When I got to the camera part it began to get interesting, but then the East Enders series was on the TV, so I decided that would be more interesting. I wanted to continue this morning, but it is no longer in Internet where it was, and there is now only a video on YouTube. I will save it for later. I decided by watching this introduction from the Apple extra terrestrials, I did understand a little more. I also understood the price very well, so am still thinking about it, but one day I will probably be swiping like the rest and looking at my phone hoping it will switch on.

I have also at last found a book to read. I was at a loose end and wanted something to keep me busy. I noticed that Ken Follet’s new cadthederal book was ready and yesterday was the first day that it was published. I had read Pillars of the Earth some years ago and also the second book “World without End” all from the fictional town of Kingsbridge somewhere in England. We are now approaching the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England, and now there are  protestants as well as catholics – blame it on King Henry VIII. I have only read 30 pages on my Kindle up to now, but am already in the story.

I quite like Ken Follet books as they always have a good story line. So now I am kept busy and not causing any mischief – I have a book to read. It was quite a reasonable buy in the Kindle version. If I bought the real book, even as a paperback with over 900 pages, it would be too heavy to hold

I also planned today’s shopping list on my iPhone in the evening, so what could possibly happen. We are really forgetting to buy far too many important items at the moment: even the fridge is running out of stuff to cook if you forget everything else, the iron reserve.

We will be visiting our supermarket this morning. The last time we drove home Mr. Swiss took the scenic route, as in the photo that follows.

    • I never lock my phone in any case. There is nothing worth knowing on my phone except for my shopping list and state of my health with the medicine timetable. I was just interested to know how this new expensive toy with all its gimmicks works. I am happy with my iPhone 6. Of course the camera will be something special, but I have a good Nikon if I want to take good photos. And almost 1,000 Swiss francs is a lot of money to pay for a new phone
