Despite the fight of the supermarket shopping trip, Mr. Swiss found time to visit the chocolate place in town where they make their own Easter bunnies in various disguises and tastes. He returned home successfully with an Easter bunny for me, knowing that I prefer dark chocolate. We used to have a breakfast of hard boiled painted eggs on Easter Sunday morning, a sort of tradition. I am not really the tradition type, but we did it all for the kids because they were then kids and did not want to destroy the illusion of Easter for them. They could make their own decisions when they were older  knowing that was a choice.

Our golden oldie digestive systems no longer manage hard boiled eggs first thing in the morning. I am reserving my chocolate bunny for the evening. The weather is not so Easterlike, dull and cold with rain in the air. During the night a few drops fell, but only enough to say I was here and might be back. I noticed North Korea celebrated Easter but starting a missile which exploded when beginning its journey. I have memories of the Aldermaston marches in England. Aldermaston was one of those places that no-one really knew until the British decided to build an atomic weapons base there on the old Airforce base. In 1958 the first march was organisied by the british “Ban the Bomb” group at Easter, and continued for many years afterwards. It eventually became a meeting for the altenatives, the beatniks, the long haired dressed in black stockings groups. I would have dearly like to taken part, but Aldermaston was quite a distance from Bethnal Green in East London, although I knew a couple of school friends that went. There were demonstrations involving police. I do not know if it still takes place but it is now under new management. There were a few cases of atomic pollution in a stream and otherwise. Yes, these toys can be dangerous to handle.

Today Mr. Swiss told me that our biggest department store in the local town of Solothurn are open for shopping which quite astonished me. I had a quick check to see if our supermarket chain, Migros, were also open, but no deal. Perhaps Sunday shopping is gradually infiltrating  the Swiss way of life. I remember when I was in London some years ago and my dad needed new slippers for at home. We were programmed on Sunday to visit my friend for lunch and she said why not go to the store on the way in Romford (the nearest town center) and get them with him. I was surprised, but surely enough Sunday has now beome a normal shopping day in London, which was very convenient.

I am not sure if I will be going places and doing things today. Even my camera has no new ideas for photos. I might curl up with my latest book. I am gradually ploughing through the over 40 novels by Terry Pratchett about the Discword and am now on No. 8 which is as funny as the others.

I have just finished “The Masked City” by Genevive Cogman, the second book in the Invisible Library Series. I found the first book quite good and decided to try the second. It all takes place in alternative worlds. The Librarians are a species for themselves, departing on missions to find lost mysterious books and their organisation is very interesting. The main figure is Irene who is a Librarian spy, and working in an alternative London. There are Kingdoms with Dragons, a very superior race that usually take on human shape and there are the Fae which are quite chaotic. In this book the action takes place in an alternative Venice, where the Fae live, where Irene’s assistant Kai (who is actually a dragon) is kidnapped to this Venice and Irene embarks on a rescue mission. Ok, perhaps not everyone’s thing, but I like to escape from the realities of life now and again. Mr. Swiss never reads such novels, he is more into the realities of crime. There are four books altogether in the Invisible Library series, and eventually I will probably get through all of them.

And  now the daily chores are calling, I have things to do to keep my body in working order.
