This cornelian cherry tree had been growing in the meadow opposite our back porch for at least 15 years and I only noticed it last year. Apparently it is a member of the dogwood family, and I never even realised that we had a dogwood. I found the cherries on the tree last Autumn, and apparently they would be edible, but decided not to take the risk, in case they were something else like atropa belladonna, then I would no longer be here to show everyone my cerise.
