I saw these in the flower store, and quite honestly did not have a clue what they were, so had to read the label. It is genista which comes in various colours, usually yellow I believe, and flowers on shrubs. I thought it would be something completely different.
Looks a bit like the yellow flowers you get on gorse or broom – the plant, not the sweeping kind! 🙂

According to what I read in Wikipedia, it is also broom – it seems to come in various varieties. I got the name “Ginster”on the label attached to the plant, which is the german word for genista or, broom.

Oh I see – coming from the North of Scotland, I grew up with gorse and broom growing everywhere – I love it!

Yes, it’s the commonly called broom (I’ve learned this in my time in UK), I don’t like it because it has a strong smell which gives me a horrible headache. I’ve seen them in pink, yellow, cream….
If I’m not mistaken, I have seen donkeys eating it in the South…

I have seen them growing wild, usually yellow, but never this colour. In England I think we tended to call them broom.
