I asked him whether he would prefer to be describe as green or yellow and he told me he was colour blind in any case so it did not bother him.

This parrot lived in the vets surgery for many years. He always greeted me when I was visiting with one of my cats. Sometimes he would be in the cage, and sometimes outside. One day the cage was gone with the parrot, but no problem. They gave him to an animals home where he would be much better looked after.
The grasshopper is a gorgeous color and that’s the only good thing I can say about him – dislike bugs of all sorts.
But that parrot – a handsome fellow with a piercing gaze.

I find them good subjects for photos. I always loved that parrot, he even spoke a few words.

I used to have a single yellow headed Amazon parrot, then, in Israel, a lesser sulpher-crested cockatoo. Parrots are interesting pets. VERY smart. Like little kids in a lot of ways. They don’t do well with cats in the house, though. It makes them nervous because the cats are always looking for an opportunity. Parrots look too much like lunch to a cat ๐

Parrots are lunch to a cat, although I think Tabby would have a problem. As a matter of fact I think Tabby is slowls becoming an elderly lady. She just watches the birds now and doesn’t even try to make a grab.

I never would have guessed a grasshopper could be colorblind ๐

I think animals have a completely difference way of seeing than humans.

If that grasshopper was brown, I’d be having the heebie-jeebies. ALL bugs should be green! Nice photos ๐

Next week we have an insect exhibition in the local town and I will be there with the camera. They advertise giant spiders ๐
