Daily Prompt: Shoulda, woulda, coulda – huh?

Tell us about something you know you should do . . . but don’t.

I should stop writing these daily prompts, but I don’t.

s'Mami vor der grossen Reisé

Any bids? Just 3.50 Swiss francs for the pair of us. No problem. We are quite easy to look after, just three regular meals a day, but perhaps not a MacDonalds hamburger which was the actual advertisement behind us. Yes, golden oldie Mr. Swiss did a selfie at the local railway station before I departed for my 5 day trip to Germany, making sure he had a photo to remind him of me in case I decided not to return and he forgot what I looked like.

Otherwise forget the shoulda thing. I mean it is not even english, and there is nothing I should do, but don’t. I now have time to do what I want to and if I do not want to do it, I don’t do it, quite easy, although I do have a bill to pay for my newest Kindle that I bought online from Amazon. Just a flick on the keyboard on my finance paying computer and it will be settled. I am quite happy with my new Kindle voyage. It has an illuminated screen so that I can read it when resting in my coffin during the day: vampire night flights can be quite exhausting sometimes. It also has something called 3g which means I can upload books when I am travelling in far away places. There was a small problem on my trip to Germany. I now have a portable charger and took it with me to Germany. Unfortunately I forgot it in Germany, but No. 2 son arrived this week and brought it with him, so I had to make do with uploading on the computer in the meanwhile. Today I even received a mail from Amazon asking me how pleased I was with my exclusive origami cover and charger. Of course I told them, in Anglo Swiss style, that the origami leather cover was ideal to show off with, after all it was a limited edition. Yes, only the best for Mrs. Angloswiss.

Yesterday evening it rained, not just a short shower, but the real thing soaking the garden at last and saving me a trip with the hose. Today we have normal temperatures, where you do not feel like you are a cat on a hot tin roof. We can breathe again and there is a fresh wind blowing. Even the flies have withdrawn. I had a record hit list of about 6 dead flies yesterday, each one personally killed by my own fly swatter. I cannot bear to see them squirm so I make an effort to kill them with the first swat. Yesterday I was quite annoyed. I settled down to my after lunch golden oldie sleep and there was a fly winging its way over the bed. This fly definitely had a death wish as it was zooming past my ear, settling on my arm and generally being an annoyance. I had to rise to fetch the fly swatter from the living room and waited until this fly settled on the bed. I then pounced. It took two swats, but I had him. Unfortunately his 100 brothers and sisters were waiting to take over, but none ventured into the bedroom, they remained outside on the porch.

Angloswiss Ltd. together with partner, might even be going on walking trips again, although there are a few stormy clouds in the sky. However it will be difficult to encourage Mr. Swiss as he is busy watching the daily stage of the French bicycle race known as tour de France. The riders have overcome the pyrenees and are now approaching Paris where they will partake in the last stages around the town. I am not a bike racing enthusiast myself, but I like to see the scenery as they cycle past various towns.

I so wish we had something more original for our daily prompts, and not things written in a foreign language.

  1. Oh Mrs. Anglo Swiss, your writing is so good. You deserve a Booker prize, if not something better. The selfie is great and Mr. AS looks as good and as young as you do.Did your cats miss you when you were gone ?
I can imagine how handicapped you must have felt without your charger. Whenever we travel, there is a mad rush looking for chargers or buying new ones- different types go for different countries I think, or that’s what my golden middie tells me.

    • I had my charger with me when I was away, the problem was that I forgot to take it home with me afterwards, but son came to the rescue and brought it.
And did my cats miss me? See here The Return of Mrs. Human
I wouldn’t mind a Booker prize (will I get money if I get it?)

      • Yeah, I got the story of the charger wrong, Mrs. AS- all the heat here is getting at my head and plus I am a golden middie myself.:)
I hadn’t read the Return of Mrs. Human yet- thanks for sending me that link.
You will need to accept the Booker prize certificate or trophy and the money when you accept it- you cannot just take the money and leave the certificate.:

  2. I just upgraded my Kindle to the HDX 8.9 (the big one and I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT) and Garry’s getting a new one tomorrow, the HDX 7″ version (he has the Fire 6″ and it’s a bit lame). I’ll take his six, we’ll swing our partners and do-si-do and everything will be great. Me? I shoulda been a contender. But instead, I’m something else, but I’m not sure what 🙂 I actually DIDN’T do the prompt yesterday. Just didn’t feel like it. Take that, WordPress!!

Nice picture of the two of you. I think it’s the first one of you both together I’ve ever seen.

    • I really only need my Kindle for reading. I have my eye on so many other things at the moment. I have two computers, my apple and my normal Windows. The Windows has a few years now in its bytes and in the morning it has a weakness for not writing a few letters, but usually recovers after 10-20 minutes. I notice it happens more when I don’t use it, like when I disappeared to Germany for 5 days. I have decided when it dies, I want a new Windows computer. Two computers in the hand are worth more than one in the dealers. I am waiting for Windows 10 to arrive and will think about it. I have so many photos and really only need a second computer for the photo space. Silly isn’t it, but I am not only a golden oldie, but a golden cyber oldie.
Photos of us together are few and far between, and usually selfies unless No. 2 son does us a favour.

  3. Good blog there, Pat. We’re still hot down in Lisbon and no rain yet. I’ve never had a Kindle but I sometimes think about getting one. The thing is that I like to have books on my bookshelf.

    • At last our weather has normalised itself. Last night it was rain all the time and now we have fresh air to breathe. Temperatures are now bearable. I have books on 6 bookshelves in our hobby room in the cellar and more in the living room on a bookshelf which occupies a whole wall, so I really do not want more books. I could not imagine life without a Kindle now. My only problem is knowing what to choose for my next upload when I have finished a book, but where there is an amazon there is always a choice.

      • Well, Pat, I have only about twenty to thirty books and they are not here in Lisbon. Some are in Bournemouth and some are in Kathmandu. I’ve bought so many books in various countries but when they get old and brown I get rid of them and put them back on my want list. A fair few were borrowed but never returned and my many guide books became outdated. I’m gradually getting sold on the idea of buying a Kindle. What’s your plan for today, Pat ?
