Are you stubborn as a grass stain or as easy going as a light breeze on a warm day? Tell us about the ways in which you’re stubborn — which issues make you dig your heels in and refuse to budge?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us STEADFAST.
My overweight long furred black feline Nera is very steadfast if she finds a pile of nice clean washing waiting to be ironed. It seems to be the fulfilment of the perfect sleeping place, the nirvana of a feline life. I asked her if she would mind perhaps moving to a nice comfortable cushion, but she looked at me as if to say “forget it”. When I made an attempt to move her, her claws protruded and she made strange hissy noises, so I decided to do something more worthwhile until she decided to move. She is to be respected at all times, and she is the impersonation of stubborn.
On the subject of being stubborn, that is all I have to say. I had a feeling that I was again sitting in the confessional box and I do not do confessions or again write a discourse on one of my characteristics. No-one is perfect.
Another sunny day in Switzerland, a strong cold breeze wind blowing but I managed to stay warm. It was time to drag my four heavy pots from the cellar where my Canna and Calla plants had been sleeping through the cold season. The remains of last summer were still in the pot in the shape of brown dry leaves. Oh, what fun lifting large heavy pots. Luckily I had a trolley to push them on and Mr. Swiss helped with opening doors. He has back problems (oldie but not goldie, more rusty – it happens to all of us eventually) but I succeded. Of course I had to do some preparations. After the pots were sitting outside on the patio next to the wall, the dead leaves were removed and the earth loosened. I then threw a layer of chicken dung pellets and topped up the earth with a fresh layer. Mr. Swiss had switched on the outside water supply yesterday and so I hosed the earth down. I am sure my plants are now waking, shaking their roots and thinking about doing things, at least I hope so.
I also finished the garden preparations and have now covered everything in fresh earth. Now I can just relax and watch the grass and the plants grow.
In between I had a look on the computer to see if Facebook had anything monumental to say. There were a few remarks from various people that they felt tired. Two of my colleagues are suffering from withdrawal symptoms due to giving up smoking and this morning there was a discussion about housework. Either they wanted to do it or were thinking about it. I joined in to say I was doing it and did some yesterday. Perhaps this was a mistake, the conversation became silent. Yesterday was quite exciting; we were all concerned with a colleague that had seen a mouse. Various suggestions were made on how to react, fifty ways to kill a mouse etc. I do not know the result, but this morning everyone was alive and Facebook life continued as usual.
I also wrote a comment on a forum I belong to. Actually I no longer wanted to write anything in this forum because I do not think they like me, but I sometimes have a streak of being stubborn (there – you have it). I am not a yes person that nods in agreement with everything that is said or written. Oh what an exciting life I lead. My next action will be my daily Tai Chi practice and this evening I actually intend to read further in my book. Life is full of excitement.

I stubbornly cling to life. It is the final statement in stubborn. And then there’s that “gotta have the last word” thing 🙂

Yes person forums are boring, I agree with you there.

It’s just one of those forums where no-one really discusses anything, just agreement, if you ever get a comment. The 2 moderators just seem to ignore you if your face and comments do not fit.

Isn’t Nera the inCATination of stubborn? I suspect she feels demeaned at the implication she is at all person-like. 😉

I asked her and she said she is just a member of the superior feline race, but tolerates humans. When the paw-friendly tin operner is eventually developped, she will have a re-think.
